I have already been using a mechanical keyboard for years and I discovered this hobby for myself in 2013. At the time, this hobby was unknown and very "underground".

The tech-savvy community led very innovative and ambitious projects. Back in 2013, it was unimaginable that a group of enthusiasts could start a project with a serious industrial manufacturer via a group buy. Even if these projects only just met the the manufacturer's minimum order quantity, the success of each of these projects was a small sensation. I was very enthusiastic about this and in 2015 I gained my first positive experience with SA Carbon.

The year after, I had one of my most successful projects with GMK Carbon. By the standards of the time, the order quantity for a custom keyset (individually designed keycaps) was enormous and it was probably also a motivation for many industry manufacturers to work more closely with the community. In any case, from my experience, the cooperation between GMK and the community has developed extremely positively and is still unparalleled today.
