Based in Strasbourg (France), I am a Designer with over 10 years of experience in the field of communication with a fervent passion for visual arts, playful objects, and keycap design.
I discovered the mechanical keyboards in 2017. The ability to customize and personalize an object that I use daily captivated me and motivated me to design my very first keycap set the following year.
In 2023, after a decade in the communication field, I decided to devote myself full-time to designing keycap sets (in addition to my digital design services) from color scheme to custom font and icons design.
The creation of keycaps has a particular meaning for me since they are a main (and indissociable) component of the keyboard, object that we have in our hands every day and that deserves to be taken care of. By customizing the look of keycaps, giving them a singular style, I have the opportunity to create something that positively impacts the daily user experience.
Since 2018, I've been fortunate enough to design over 30 keycap sets, and I don't intend to stop now!
GMK sets I designed:
GMK Bento, GMK Dots, GMK Bushido, GMK Honor, GMK Bento Round 2, GMK Dots 2, GMK Awaken, GMK Parcel, GMK Trackday, GMK Nightlife, GMK Extended 2048
GMK Sets for which I designed novelties:
GMK Wavez, GMK Grand Prix, GMK Vaporwave, GMK Mudbeam, GMK Matsu, GMK First Love, GMK Gegenschlag
Misc:
Katakana characters (Bushido, Honor, Bento, Analog Dreams 2, Kaiju 2), Extended 2048 typography and icons, Awaken modifiers
Where do we draw the line between legends and novelties?
The genesis of Dots was born from the desire of a unique and creative way to rethink keycap sets that depart from traditional/common letters and numbers.
The postulate being that blank keycap sets have a definite pros (layout coverage and price), but you have to admit that it's tough to type on them if you don't know the location of each key by heart. So I wondered, would a simple visual cue help avoid getting lost on such an abstract set? The idea was to see how minimalist the keycap legends could be. And which shape is the most minimalist possible? The round.
Unlike most, if not all, keycap sets that use letters and numbers to indicate key functions, GMK Dots feature, as you may have guessed, dots shaped legends, providing a clean and uncluttered look.
Additionally, With dots instead of legends (or as legends), the set can accomplish the same functionality, covering any layout, with fewer keycaps and obviously a cheaper price.
This results in the most minimalistic of minimalistic sets.
